Guided EF Folder

Develop students’ executive functioning abilities with this Guided EF Folder. This trifold walks students through the 5-part EF process, including goal setting, regulation, attention, planning, and reflection.

The laminated material allows students to write directly on the folder, erase their work, and use the folder again and again. The graphic organizers & checklists included on each page of the trifold ask key questions and provide space for students to work through the entire 5-part EF process!

How we use them:

As students work on different tasks, it is important that they understand the steps needed to complete them. This Guided EF Folder breaks tasks up into 5 parts.

1. First, students work on goal setting and understanding how the task at hand fits into their greater goals.
2. Next, students work on regulation. Here, they will work to recognize how they feel about the task and are provided with strategies to help them regulate their emotions.
3. Then, students are asked to think about where their attention is and how they can work to maintain their attention as it relates to the task at hand.
4. Next, students complete a Ready–Do–Done graphic organizer to help them outline each step needed to complete their task.
5. Finally, students are asked to reflect on how the process went. 

These 5 parts encompass several different executive functioning skills. Whether your student needs help in a specific area or across all 5 parts, this trifold will provide organization and structure to support EF development.

What’s Included:

• Sold as an individual 6-panel dry-erasable folder. Multi-packs are available >>HERE<<.
• Each folder is 8.5” x 11” folded and 25.5" x 11" fully opened. The folder is color-printed on heavy, laminated paper stock to allow for repeated use. 
• The folder is finished in a dry-erase laminate, allowing students to write on it with dry-erase markers. We recommend Expo markers.
• We strongly recommend that the folder be wiped clean after every use with a tissue. For smudges or marker residue, you can use a light amount of Expo dry-erase spray or rubbing alcohol to clean the folder.
