Guided Comprehension Folders (Multi-Pack of 5)

Develop students’ comprehension abilities with this Guided Comprehension Folder. This trifold walks students through the reading process and prompts them for key information in the before reading, during reading, and after reading stages.  

The laminated material allows students to write directly on the folder, erase their work, and use the folder again and again. The graphic organizers included on each page of the trifold support your students’ organization of concepts and your explicit comprehension instruction. And the best part? These folders can be used with any passage or book! 

How we use them:

Begin with the “before reading” page to activate background knowledge.

The “during reading” section allows students to connect their phonics and vocabulary work to the passage you’re working on and helps clue them to the 5Ws (who, what, when, where, why).

The “after reading” pages include graphic organizers to support students’ comprehension skills including recall, sequencing, main idea, connections, compare and contrast, cause and effect, inferences, predictions, and analysis.

What’s Included:

• A pack of five (5) Guided Comprehension Folders.
• Each folder is 8.5” x 11” folded and 25.5" x 11" fully opened. The folder is color-printed on heavy, laminated paper stock to allow for repeated use. 
• The folder is finished in a dry-erase laminate, allowing students to write on it with dry-erase markers. We recommend Expo markers.
• We strongly recommend that the folder be wiped clean after every use with a tissue. For smudges or marker residue, you can use a light amount of Expo dry-erase spray or rubbing alcohol to clean the folder.
